The Process
The printed output of your 2 x 3.5 UV coated business card is covered with the UV coating. At this point, the coating is still in liquid or paste form. It is then exposed to the ultraviolet light. At this stage, the photoinitiators in the coating itself react and instantly creates a hard protective coat. There is also an ingredient on the UV coating called monomers that makes the coating appear glossy and it also contributes to the hardness of the material.
The UV coating is also called the Energy Curable. This provides your material a higher gloss and color accuracy. The images and texts also look sharper. This will also make your material durable.
