Letterpress Printing Press

Letterpress is one of the oldest printing techniques wherein a raised surface is covered in ink then press against a smooth surface, thus a patterned image is then obtained. This was first developed with the introduction of relief image printing - a set of movable types (letters set in blocks) is inked then covered with the paper, then slid under a padded surface then pressure is applied. Thus, this forms the image on the paper without worrying about smudges and ink stains.

If you have been a long time print buyer, you would then be familiar with the fact that traditional printing processes (offset, lithographic and letterpress) are more popular in terms of obtaining quality print results; thus even in the midst of digital printing innovations, the letterpress printing press method still remained its position as one of the printing processes known for quality print results. Moreover, this technological evolution also brought about great benefits for letterpress printing press method too; photographic imaging is now made possible, not to mention a combination of ink colors can also be applied, while traditional quality is still maintained.
